Last weekend Germany’s biggest dog sled race was held in the town of Bernau in the Black Forest. Bernau has been a location for winter European dog sled races for more than 30 years. In 2003 the Dogsled World Championships were held in Bernau.
Last weekend more than 6000 spectators from all over the world were cheering on 90 of the world’s top mushers from 5 different nations- as dogsled drivers are officially called- and 800 dogs of various breeds, mostly huskies.
